It is also necessary to ensure that the system for the comparison of biometric data functions within the interoperability framework established by Regulations (EU) 2019/817Interoperability (Borders and Visa) Regulation (¹⁵) and (EU) 2019/818Interoperability (Police and Asylum) Regulation (¹⁶) of the European Parliament and of the Council in accordance with this Regulation and with Regulation (EU) 2016/679General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in particular with the principles of necessity and proportionality and with the principle of purpose limitation set out in Regulation (EU) 2016/679General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
