Language skills are important to ensure that applicants have an adequate standard of living. Those skills also constitute a deterrent against secondary movements. Member States should therefore ensure or facilitate access to language courses to the extent they consider such courses appropriate in order to help enhance an applicant’s ability to act autonomously and interact with competent authorities.
